Accessibility Statement

Gilgal Home Care & Registry serves older adults, people with disabilities, and people navigating serious illness. A website that excludes them would contradict the work itself. We are committed to making this site usable by everyone.

What we aim for

We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These are the standards referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508.

What we have done

• Text and background colors chosen for readable contrast
• Text that resizes without breaking the layout, and pages that work at high zoom
• Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images
• Headings structured in order so screen readers can navigate the page
• Links written to make sense out of context, rather than "click here"
• Forms with visible, associated labels
• Layouts that work on phones, tablets, and desktops
• No content that flashes or auto-plays

Known limitations

We want to be honest rather than claim perfection:

• Our website is built on Squarespace and our scheduler is provided by Acuity. Some accessibility behavior in those platforms is outside our direct control.
• Some downloadable PDFs may not be fully tagged for screen readers. If you need any Gilgal resource in an accessible format, ask and we will provide one at no cost.
• Third-party checkout pages follow their providers' own accessibility standards.

Alternative formats

On request and at no charge, we can provide our materials in large print, as plain-text documents, or read aloud over the phone.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is not a one-time project. We review the site as we make changes and address issues as we learn about them.
