a short update and a thank you, from me to you.
A short update, and a thank you
Gilgal is a small team. There is no marketing department here, no agency on retainer, and no advertising budget worth the name. Most of what happens, happens because somebody tells somebody else, or because one of us picks up the phone.
So I want to write down where things stand, mostly because a few things went well in the last couple of weeks and I would like to say thank you to the people responsible.

Home Care 101
This was the first one. When we started planning it, the registration list had nobody on it, which is the only honest place a first event can begin. Sixteen people signed up.
Sixteen is not a number that impresses anyone in a marketing meeting. But every one of those sixteen came from something traceable and unglamorous — a post somebody shared, a conversation after church, a family who had already called us and told a friend. Nobody was targeted by an ad. Nobody was retargeted anywhere. Sixteen households in Pennsylvania decided that an hour learning how home care actually works was worth their Saturday.
We will run it again, and I expect the next one to be easier than the first, because the hardest version of this is the one where you have nothing to point at.
The Patcha Foundation fund
The patient treatment fund sat at $550. Four days later it was at $1,355.
The goal is $7,000, and seven people are registered and waiting on it, so I am not going to pretend this is finished. It is not. But $805 arrived in four days from people who read a list of seven first names, ages and diagnoses and decided to do something about it, and that deserves to be said out loud rather than quietly absorbed into a progress bar.
If you gave, thank you. If you shared it with one person, that mattered more than you probably think, because almost every gift in that window traces back to somebody passing it along.
The fund is still open here, and we are still going.
Caregivers and families
More caregivers have been applying to work with us, and more families have been reaching out looking for support. Both of those are the things that actually determine whether a home care agency exists in a year, and both have been moving in the right direction.
That growth brings its own work — every caregiver has clearances, training and a competency evaluation before they ever meet a client, and we are not going to shorten that because we are busy. But it is a good problem, and it is the one we wanted.
Thank you
None of the above happened because of a budget. It happened because people who had no obligation to help decided to anyway — sharing a post, forwarding a link, mentioning us to a neighbor, sitting through a webinar on a Saturday, giving to a fund for patients they will never meet on a continent most of them have not visited.
We are a small team, and I am aware of how much of this is out of my hands. God continues to guide this work, and continues to send the right people at the right time, usually not the ones I would have predicted. I am grateful for that, and grateful for every person named and unnamed who moved something forward these last two weeks.
There is a long way to go on all of it. We are going.
